31st BCS Written Exam Results Published. The results of the 31st Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) written examinations under the Public Service Commission (PSC) were announced on Thursday. A total of 6884 candidates have passed the test, Public Service Commission (PSC) public relations officer Mir Mosharraf Hossain told on news paper.

The result of the 30th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination was published on Wednesday and the Public Service Commission (PSC). Public Service Commission (PSC) recommended 2,367 candidates out of 5810 to be appointed in different cadres of the government. The PSC is currently unable to recommend all candidates for jobs who successfully passed the 30th BCS examinations due to shortage of vacancies in the cadre services.

A total of 5,810 candidates came out successful in the third phase of the three- phase competitive examinations on the basis of the written examinations and viva voce. The rest of the candidates will be appointed as class 1 officers (non-cadre) on basis of the special appointment circular issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on May 10, 2010. Some 8,640 candidates faced the viva voce from June 20, 2011 to September 21, 2011 out of 9,059.

The total number of examinees in the 30th BCS examinations was 1,47,395, of them, 9,059 came out successful in the preliminary and written tests.

Medical Admission Test Result 2011 have been published on the website www.dghs.gov.bd. The admission test was held on Friday.

A total of 43,644 candidates vied for 2509 seats in 18 public medical colleges and 3550 seats in 43 private medical colleges this year, said Prof Khandaker Shefayet Ullah, medical education director at the Directorate General of Health Services on Sunday. A total of 20 MBBS seats are reserved for indigenous students, 80 for foreign students and 114 seats for freedom fighters' children. The admission process would be completed by the end of November.

Among the public medical colleges, 50 students will be admitted to Jessore Medical College for the first time.

Bangladeshi-made DOEL laptop will come to market in June this year with minimum price of Tk 15,000 and one year warranty, Post and Telecommunications Minister Raji Uddin Ahmed Raju said here on Thursday. Briefing reporters at his ministry, he said the minimum price of laptop has been re-fixed at Tk 15000 from Tk 10,000 as one year warranty period has been included in the package.

Watching Lionel Messi, Angel Di Maria and Carlos Tevez from the galleries of the Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) is set to become reality as the emergency executive committee of Bangladesh Football Federation yesterday officially confirmed that an Argentina-Nigeria friendly match will be held in Dhaka in September this year.

Bangladesh's Football Federation has made it clear that both Nigeria and Argentina will come to Dhaka for the September 6 friendly with full squads.

The Bangladesh Football Federation has signed a $4 million contract with both sides for the prestige game and President Kazi Salahuddin said that mandates both sides to field their strongest squads, including Lionel Messi

"Our $4 million contract with both sides says the Argentina team must include Messi," he said. "The sight of Messi playing on our soil will be the best thing to have happened to Bangladesh football in many years. It will inspire a lot of boys to play football."

Nigeria beat Argentina 4-1 earlier this month in Abuja, although the victory has been shadowed by a FIFA investigation into betting patterns around the fifth goal, which Argentina scored from a highly dubious penalty eight minutes into what should have been five minutes of additional time.

The Bangladesh game has been organised by India-based firm Celebrity Management Group, who have also set up a match between Argentina and Venezuela in Kolkata on September 2.

The University of Dhaka was created to offer an alternative to University of Calcutt. The formation of University of Dhaka is largely credited to Nawab Bahadur Syed Nawab Ali Chowdhury, himself a student on the hallowed St. Xavier's College, Calcutta affiliated to University of Calcutta. Thus in 1921 under the aegis of Nawab Bahadur Syed Nawab Ali Chowdhury, The University of Dhaka opened its doors on July 1, 1921 under three faculties : Arts, Law and Science.

Bangladesh has 30 public universities instructing the bulk of greater studies students. These universities which are funded by the Federal government and managed as self-governed government institutions.

In Dhaka division you will find 12 public universities. Amongst them seven are in Dhaka City, a couple of universities in Gazipur, a single in Savar. In Mymensingh District you will find a couple of universities located in Mymensingh Town and Trishal. In Tangail District there is also a university locating on Sontoss. In Rajshahi division you'll find three universities, two in Rajshahi and one in Rangpur. There are two public universities in Rangpur division. A single is in Rangpur and an additional one in Dinajpur. In Khulna division you'll find four public universities; a couple of are in Khulna, a single in Jessore and one more in Kushtia. The university in Kushtia may be the only public university in Bangladesh specializing in Islamic studies.

Five public universities are in Chittagong division for example three are in Chittagong and 1 each in Comilla and Noakhali. A single of them specializes in Veterinary Sciences. Kabi Nazrul Government College was originally established at Dhaka by a grant from the Mohsin Fund in 1874 as Mohasania Madrasah in the model of Calcutta Alia Madrasah, and came to be known as Dhaka Madrasah. In 1915 it was converted into Dhaka High Madrasah. In the following year, its Anglo-Persian department got separated and became the Dhaka Government Muslim High School.
